Tooth implants as a replacement for missing tooth roots
Are you missing a tooth? Maybe several? Then the placement of dental implants is an ideal solution. These implants replace your tooth root, after which the dentist can place a crown or bridge on the implant. We can even click a complete prosthesis on two or more implants so that it cannot move from its place. We call this a click denture. The more deluxe version is the fixed bridge on implants. Implants are ideal for anchoring various dentures parts, such as placing a crown.
Placing implants
Before the treatment starts, the dentist, or implantologist, will assess whether the implant placement is possible by taking X-rays. If you do not have enough jawbone, treatment for bone remodeling can take place first. This can be done with artificial bone or the so-called ‘bone grafting’. The implants can be placed six months to one year after this procedure.
The implantologist can provide the implant treatment under local or general anesthesia. During the following months up to six months, the jawbone will attach itself to the implants. After that, the crown, bridge, or dentures can be made.
Your dentist will decide if you require treatment in 1 or 2 phases. This depends mostly on the condition of your gums. In the single-stage treatment, the implant is placed with the (healing) abutment directly on the implant. In the two-stage treatment, the implants are embedded under the gums. Once the implant has grown in, the gums will finally be removed to place the abutment.

What does an implant cost?
If you are considering treatment for implants, you are naturally curious about what implants cost. We understand that, but it is difficult to determine in advance. In order to be able to make a good estimate of the costs, a diagnosis must be made in advance about the health of your teeth and gums. Only then can we determine which treatment with which implants is best for you.
If you are missing 1 or more teeth, implants are not reimbursed from the basic package. Reimbursement of (part of) the costs may then come from your additional dental insurance. An exception to this may be if the teeth have never been formed or if the missing tooth is in the front. Our healthcare consultant can then request permission for reimbursement from your health insurer.
Click dentures are included in the basic package, but prior permission from your health insurer is also required. We are happy to take care of these reimbursement requests, also known as authorization requests.
